What's new in Tasteful

User-facing updates from TestFlight and pre-release builds — grouped by version, written for people who use the app, not engineers.

Latest Beta

v0.2.1

Beta

Passkeys on web and iPhone

Sign in with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN — no password typing. Manage passkeys in Settings on app.tasteful.to and in the iOS app; email and password still work for recovery.

Sign-in & security

  • Redesigned sign-in and sign-up — passkey-first login; email and password when you need them; clearer signup with confirm password. One account for your meals, recipes, and plans—online or offline.
  • Passkeys on web and iPhone — sign in without typing your password. Add a passkey after your first password sign-in, or manage passkeys in Settings.
  • Same account, both surfaces — passkeys registered on the web can sync to your iPhone via iCloud Keychain (and the other way around) when sync is enabled.
  • Password still works — email and password remain available for recovery, new devices, and password reset.

Earlier beta releases

v0.2.0

Beta

New look, better feedback, offline planning

TestFlight builds with a refreshed app icon, in-app feedback from anywhere, stronger offline sync, and smarter dinner recommendations.

Branding

  • New app icon — frosted plate with crossed fork and knife on a vibrant background, regenerated for all seven accent colors.
  • Match your icon to accent color — Settings shows a live preview; changing accent updates in-app and Home Screen icons.
  • Bigger loading icon on sign-in and initializing screens.

TestFlight feedback

  • Share an idea from anywhere — tap the lightbulb in the mini recommender to capture a screenshot and record a quick voice note.
  • Feedback lives in the bottom accessory beside +, not as a floating button over your content.
  • Clearer mini recommender — empty state shows Suggest a meal with a photo icon.

Meals

  • Gallery grid layout — cards stay aligned in the two-column grid when you switch from list to gallery.
  • Category saves correctly — changing a meal’s category in Edit now sticks after save and sync.

Planning & sync

  • Planner works offline — assign meals and restaurants locally first; sync when you reconnect.
  • Today stays today — accepting a suggestion for tomorrow’s dinner no longer replaces your Today hero.
  • Faster hero on launch — your accepted meal for today shows immediately; photos load from on-device cache when available.

Quality & security

  • Stronger offline storage and sync — meal data writes are serialized and atomic.
  • Private meal photos — cloud photos require authentication; uploads are scoped to your account.

Polish

  • Save button looks right — filled accent checkmark when you can save in edit flows.
  • Cleaner editor sheets — consistent cancel/confirm toolbar placement.
  • Honest recommender copy — Why this meal? shows real engine rationale.
  • Dinner means mains — dinner suggestions are limited to Mains unless you change the meal-time picker.

v0.1.5

Beta

Safari sharing, Siri, and a calmer library

Save recipes from Safari with a Notes-like compose sheet, open the right screen from Shortcuts, and browse meals with faster, offline-friendly photos.

Share from Safari

  • Notes-like share compose — pick Meal, Restaurant, or Recipe, edit the name, preview the link, then Save.
  • Save recipes from Safari in one tap with clear progress and reliable handoff to Recipes.
  • Works before you sign in — shared recipes save on device immediately and sync after login.
  • Share food photos from Photos → Share → Tasteful into Meals with optional notes and category.

Meals & photos

  • Tap the meal photo on detail to open Quick Look — local files open instantly.
  • Recipe images cached like meal photos for consistent offline browsing.
  • Share a meal with one tap — Share Meal sends an OpenMeal file via the system share sheet.
  • Meal detail grouped into clearer sections: details, preparation, restaurants, variations, and more info.

Home & planning

  • Today’s Selection survives a full app quit after I know what I want.
  • Upcoming calendar opens on today’s month after reopening the app.
  • Restaurant eating-out tonight on Home — confirm the plan, attach a meal, or add a new one linked to that restaurant.

Siri & Shortcuts

  • What should I eat?, Log a meal, and Show favorite meals route into the same in-app flows.
  • Fewer false failures when your meal list has not been written to disk yet.
  • Less duplicate UI when Siri opens a meal suggestion.

Settings & design

  • Accent color shows the right checkmark immediately in Settings.
  • Appearance picks feel like Settings — full-row taps with accent on the checkmark.
  • Liquid Glass everywhere — buttons use iOS 26 glass styles instead of legacy bordered chrome.
  • Reader Mode keeps your screen awake while you cook.

Help

  • Help & Support in the app opens tasteful.to/support — FAQ plus email, not a raw mailto link.

v0.1.2

Beta

Liquid Glass home, reliable sync, sharper hero photos

Home and recommendations feel more native on iOS 26, sync and household planning foundations landed, and Today’s Selection photos behave predictably.

Home

  • Today’s Selection matches iOS 26 Liquid Glass — glass buttons at the right sizes on the hero card.
  • Empty hero matches the meal card so Home does not look like two different styles.
  • Today's Selection photo sits cleanly inside its card with proper rounded corners.
  • New meal = new photo immediately when you change where you’re eating.

Recommendations

  • Mini Recommender stays aligned with the Home hero after you clear Today’s Selection.
  • Change Location (At Home / At a Restaurant) updates planner data and the bottom accessory.
  • Opening a linked recipe or restaurant shows a clear unavailable screen instead of a blank sheet.

Reliability

  • Settings and preferences sync converge reliably across devices.
  • Home and planner context synchronize as first-class state — Today’s Selection, planner slot, meal sessions.
  • Smoother sync under the hood — serialized cloud work at launch reduces edge-case instability.
  • Shared meal planning foundation — add someone to this meal in planner slots with participant counts.

App icon & About

  • Refined app icon — fork and spoon centered around the checkmark; bolder green check at small sizes.
  • No loading-screen icon flicker while the app warms up.
  • About screen shows the real Tasteful app icon, not a generic glyph.

v0.1.1

Beta

Focused for App Store 1.0

Removed experimental on-device AI chat to ship a smaller, review-friendly beta focused on meals, recommendations, and sync.

Stability

  • Large meal photos decoded more efficiently — fewer memory spikes when browsing meals and Home.
  • Face ID / Touch ID — sign-out clears saved sign-in on this device; biometrics cannot restore the previous account without your password.

Scope

  • AI Chat removed from this release line so we can ship a focused 1.0. Privacy-first on-device chat is planned for a future major update.

v0.1.0

Beta

Mini recommender restored

The bottom accessory recommender and quick-add toolbars returned after early navigation experiments.

Navigation

  • Full mini recommender restored — tap for What should I eat? or your planned meal; + for Add Meal / Recipe / Restaurant.
  • Add buttons in Meals, Restaurants, and Recipes tab toolbars for quick add from each screen.

v0.1.0

Welcome to Tasteful

What's new

  • Tasteful — save the meals you love. Meal tracking, recipes, restaurants, recommendations, and sync.
  • Navigation subtitles on detail views — e.g. Eaten 15 times · Last 2 days ago.
  • Tap-and-hold previews on meals, recipes, and restaurants with quick actions.
